Children and younger teenagers who have crooked teeth are advised to wear traditional metal braces. However, it is always important to remember that ultimately it is your dentist or orthodontists who can determine what the best method of teeth straightening for you is.

A very popular type of clear brace is the ceramic brace. It is made of composite materials which are weaker and more brittle compared to traditional metal braces. They are larger than metal brackets and require wearing small rubber bands to hold them to the arch wire. Like metal braces, they are also not removable until the completion of the treatment. Because they are not as strong as metal braces, they have to be worn longer.

Using Invisalign

Invisalign can be taken out whenever desired, however to achieve the best results in the least amount of time, it I advisable to keep them on for at least 22 hours a day. There are also numerous aligners to be used in certain periods. It is encouraged to follow your dentist’s or orthodontist’s instructions to the letter in order to achieve the best results. One of the many advantages of invisalign is the comfort it offers to people who wear them.

There are many things which must be kept in mind if you are thinking of getting invisalign. It is not recommended for people who have very crooked teeth. It best works for people who have mildly crooked teeth. The cost of the treatment is relatively more than the traditional metal braces. However, in some cases the cost may be lower than traditional braces.

Smoking with your invisalign aligners on can lead to unsightly discoloration and there is no amount of cleaning and soaking which can get rid of the yellow residue so it is best not to smoke with them on.
